Ayamonte is a fishing village in the province of Huelva, Andalusia. The houses are typical whitewashed there are chuches and busy squares.
There is a market called El Mercado de Abastos in the middle of the city center which has fish mongers, butchers, fruit shops, textiles and handcrafted souvenirs. Open Monday to Saturday. There is also a flea market called El Mercadillo de Ayamonte this is on every Saturday morning and is in the fairground. There is an open air shopping center and two indoors called Marina Isla Canela and La Plaza.
Isla Canela is a natural island which is connected to the town of Ayamonte by a bridge separated by sea and the Guadian river. This river seperates Spain and Portugal and is the fourth longest river in the Iberian Peninsula.
The most popular beaches in the area are Playa Isla Canela and Punta del Moral.
