The Gruta de las Maravillas which translates to the Grotto of Wonders is a great place to visit. It is situated in Calle Pozo de la Nieve which is in the heart of the town of Aracena, in the province of Huelva. To get there by car from Isla Canela takes approximately two hours. The cave is located under the Cerro del Castillo, on which the Prioral del Castillo church and the rest of an old fortress sit.
Those responsible for the management of the Gruta de las Maravillas have already taken all the relevant safety and security measures to protect visitors from the contagion of COVID 19. The visit is made in small groups of a maximum of 20 people and the use of a mask It is mandatory throughout the entire route.
The visit which is carried out in guided groups, lasts approximately 45 minutes and covers a route of around 1,000 meters. On the tour you will be able to observe formations of stalactites, stalagmites, columns, eccentrics and other geological formations that make up a true visual spectacle.
The tour follows a circular route with different galleries superimposed on three levels of different heights in caves in which only the sound of water dripping is heard in the middle of an impressive silence.
The entrance to the cave is priced at ten euros for adults and seven euros for children aged from 6 to 12 years. Children under 6 years old enter for free. Ticket sales are limited to 1,000 people per day.
Opening hours are from 10.00 am until 13.30 then 15.00 until 18.00 seven days a week.
