Another great day out is a Jeep Safari we chose the Moorish Trail travelling through the nature reserve, mountains and villages. The Safari includes lunch and a boat trip.
The drivers spoke different languages and explained all about the countryside, traditional villages and history.
We stopped for lunch at Quinta do Rio overlooking the river Guadiana and the village of Foz de Odeleite and were served local bread, fresh cheese from the village, mountain vegetable soup (with special spices from “Quinta do Rio”), Algarvian mixed salad, grilled chicken with or without our own piri-piri, steamed potatoes with natural salt, fruit of the season, mineral water, red and white local wine. There was live music and time for a swim.
We then set sail along the river Guadiana to to Vila Real St António enjoying the relaxation on the deck, nature and refreshments from the bar. All in all it was a great day out.
