There are several bars and restaurants in the marina Isla Canela. We went on a short boat trip around the estuary it was only 10 Euros for an hour including a snack of delicious local prawns. The It was very interesting and it is still very much a working fishing port. You can also catch the ferry to Isla Cristina just across the water.
Isla Christina is a slightly larger town just across the river inlet. Isla Christina has a better choice of shops, bars and restaurants than Isla Canela so it’s good to try somewhere different and the crossing is 10 minutes tops. There are also a few bars where you can drink and look across to the marina but it’s a pity that all you can do is admire from a distance as it is gated.
We stayed in an apartment on the Marina at Isla Canela in late September and have not been disappointed. The accommodation is superb and the views outstanding whether of the wetlands or the marina itself
Nearby there are bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and bank balances. The fish in particular is good as the restaurants buy directly from the fishing fleet at the nearby Punta de la Moral.
The beach at Isla Canela is clean, long and quiet with only a few beach bars. There is a golf course nearby but only play when it’s cool because the average temperature has been 28/29 degrees not bad for October.
