The tapas restaurant Quitapenas in Ayamonte, Isla Canela is a wonderful place to visit at any time of the year. The newly relocated Tasca Quitapenas has more tables both inside and out as well as ample parking space because the location has the advantage of being on the outskirts of the town centre. Ideal for both tapas or a full sit down meal.
One of the recommended tapas is the Beef Stew which is called Caldereta de ternera or the Salmorejo which is a cold tomato based soup similar to Gazpacho. The difference is the Gazpacho has more vegetables where the Salmorejo is simply water, salt, tomatoes, onions, garlic, sherry wine, vinegar and lemon juice. The other difference between the two is that Gazpacho is traditionally served in a glass but Salmorejo is served in a bowl. I can also recommend you try the Jabugito which is chorizo cooked in white wine and served with croutons usually flavoured with garlic and parsley.
There is also the treat of live music at weekends
Opening Hours: From 12.00 – 16.30 & 20.00 – 00.30, closed Mondays.
