Every year Ayamonte promotes local restaurants through the tapas route. Foodies flock to this month long tapas festival shared between Isla Canela, Punta del Moral and Ayamonte. The idea is to sample loads of mouthwatering tapas dishes. This year for just 1.50 euro you can try a tapas in one of the 19 restaurants taking part. For each tapas you buy you collect a stamp and after ten stamps you can mark between 1 and 5 for your best dish or favourite plate. A previous winner was the mini-cylinder of veal with melted Brie and mushroom sauce.
This year I am very pleased to see that the new mayor is promoting local produce. We are in an amazing location with a proud history of fishing and to accompany the tapas route tours and activities are taking place to show off what the area has to offer. You can collect the leaflet that accompanies this event at participating restaurants or the tourist information office. The office is just before the bridge that runs over the river into Ayamonte next to the zoo.
